An all-weather track connects the cottage area with the quiet country road off the A964 Kirkwall-Orphir-Stromness road. Turn at the post box on the left if travelling from Kirkwall and on the right just after the village of Orphir, if travelling from Stromness. There is also a sign for "Smoogro" at this turning.

Lash is found towards the end of the lane, second to last turning on the left, but the very last cottage you see.

Both Kirkwall and Stromness have good shopping facilities in Kirkwall (8 miles) and Stromness (11 miles).
